FOREWORD

Welcome to the first issue of the Normah Medical Specialist Centre Newsletter the NORMAH Grapevine - for the year 2002. We have many exciting articles planned for your information and enjoyment this year.
We begin the year with a redesigned format Newsletter beginning with the mass head featuring Normah "trademark" which is incorporated and will reflect some consistency throughout the entire publication. The revised look and the brilliant colors are reflective of our pride in our organization, the abundant floral life, and the bold spirit of people of the region. We welcome your comments on the new look.

The articles in this issue are diverse in scope and are dedicated to heighten public education and awareness of health issues of significant importance to the local population. We present two clinical articles for your enjoyment. One is an overview of the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Specialist service area with description of the most frequently encountered cases. The other clinical article touches on the EYE and complications due to diabetes mellitus.

There is also a report on NMSC's participation at the Malaysia Tourism, Education and Health Roadshow in Brunei Darussalam where NMSC was featured as headline news in a Brunei newspaper, the News Express. You will also find pictorial articles with scenes and information from three NMSC provided health education programs. They are from the public forums on Hypertension, Kidney Diseases and the Symposium for Infectious Diseases.

As always, we have also included other assorted educational and motivational information you will find useful.
