Normah created history in 1994 when the first open heart surgery in Borneo was performed by a team of visiting cardiothoracic surgeons. There is now a Resident Cardiothoracic Service offering a range of services, including coronary artery bypass graft, valve and “hole in the heart” surgery. It also provides surgical back up to interventional cardiology as well as covering for Cardiothoracic trauma.
